Baptisms at St John's

Baptism (Christening) is a special service where we welcome someone into the church family.

Both adults and children can be baptised. Adults will make their own promises to God, parents of children who are not old enough to make those promises make the promises on their child's behalf.

Baptism is an important event, so preparation is important - at St John's we ask you to first contact our vicar, the Reverend Chris Rowberry, who will arrange to meet with you to explain the service and its implications.

Please contact him directly on 01489 789578 or e-mail  Alternatively feel free to contact us through the parish office by sending an e-mail to, phoning 01489 790048 or using our online contact form.

In the meantime, for more information about baptisms at St John's, why not have a look at our Baptism Leaflet
