Karen and Chris Rowberry

Reverend Chris Rowberry with his wife, the Reverend Karen Rowberry

I am delighted that you have decided to look at the web pages of St John's Church here in Hedge End. I hope that you will find your way round the site and that you can find whatever it is you are looking for.

Here at St John's we are becoming more aware of the place of service in our community and the role of the Anglican church as being a place that anyone can come to. Our church should not be an exclusive club, rather a place that welcomes those who ask for our help, advice, tradition and sense of spirituality - sometimes at one of the most important times of their lives; the celebration of the birth of a child, baptism or the joining together of a couple in marriage; or at the time of wanting to say farewell at the time of death.

It maybe that for whatever reason folk may want to say thank you to God or just find a depth of spirituality, discussion, information or new friends, we hope that all this can be found here at St John's. This should never just be a Sunday only invitation but extend to the activities in the Underhill Centre as well as visits to schools, Scouts, Beavers, Guides as well as homes for the sick and elderly.

I hope that the family of St Johns will be all these things and that at some time we may come to meet with you in person as well as through this our website.

Life is short

And we do not have too much time

To gladden the hearts

Of those who travel the way with us.

So be swift to love

And make haste to be kind

And may the Divine Mystery

Who is beyond our ability to know

But who made us, and who loves us

And who travels with us,

Bless us and keep us in peace.

Rev Chris
